Bringing Heritage to Life
The Revitalization of Historic Esna project aims to boost tourism while preserving the city’s architectural and cultural heritage. At its heart is Beit Felfel, a 1930s house restored by Takween, preserving its traditional mashrabiyas, ceilings, and hand-painted decorations.

Carefully restored and thoughtfully adapted, Beit Felfel connects Esna’s past with the present, turning heritage into an experience that is lived, shared, and remembered. Winner: 2025 Aga Khan Award for Architecture
