Our story
We walk past buildings, drive by monuments, stroll through designed spaces every single day. Most of the time, we don't know what they look like inside. We don't know their stories: who dreamed them up, who built them, or why they exist at all.
Every day, stories are being walked by. And that's why WASF exists, to reveal the stories behind the spaces.
We are a foundation where photographers and visual artists come together to describe spaces and places. And the beauty is that no two artists ever see a place the same way.
Through a growing collection of entities, WASF brings these endless perspectives to life, across the Middle East and Africa, and at times into the wider world.
Founded by architect Nour El Refai, WASF was created out of a lifelong fascination with what happens after a space is built.
